XFree86 is a free, open-source implementation of the X Window System. XDarwin is the Mac OS X version of XFree86. XDarwin runs side by side with Mac OS X's Aqua GUI in rootless or full screen modes. XDarwin can also run with pure Darwin OS from the console. The XDarwin updates are intended to be installed directly on top of XFree86 4.1.0.
